About the event
Radical art therapy is a way to interrogate generational and systemic trauma, interpersonal and communal conflict, and everything in between through a lens that is absent of male-dominated white-supremacist capitalist ideology. The classes are designed to present a mindset of post-capitalist futurism. To transpose the self that is bogged down with doubt, limitation and wage-slavery with a self that exists in am alterntive reality full of pure agency and autonomy.
Our art is intended to heal, to prophesize and to create inclusive projects for our movements as we transition into the future. When we make art, as a collective or individually, we encourage people to avoid criteria. Perfection is never mandatory. And perfection itself is unobtainable; it is fake and fascist.
This indoctrinated mindset is based on an idea that we live in a society of scarcity. That we only have a finite time to explore the possibilities of a revolutionary future. No matter the vain — art, community, ecology, politics, love — the reality is the same. If we have a community that pools our collective resources together, we can create an almost unlimited time-space for imagining. This imagining takes the form of interrogation of one's own wounds and the wounds of our community; it takes the place of the already ascribed settings for addressing harm such as the police and the for profit mental health institutions.
